Experience calm, balance, and renewed energy with a Reiki session designed to support your body, mind, and spirit. Whether you’re curious about energy healing for the first time or seeking a regular complement to your wellness routine, I provide a safe, nurturing space to rest, release, and restore.
What is Reiki in Calgary, AB? Reiki is a hands-on, non-invasive healing practice that helps the body and nervous system relax so natural restorative processes can unfold. During a session, a Reiki Master gently places their hands on or slightly above the body to encourage deep relaxation, emotional release, and energetic alignment. Reiki is not a religion and does not require belief — most clients simply arrive tired or tense and leave feeling lighter and more centered.
Reiki brings balance on all levels of existence. The physical body that
gets your attention by manifesting pain; the emotional self, what you
are feeling; the mental self/personality, what you are allowing yourself
to think and the Spiritual self, your capacity to love yourself and others
and your level of connectedness to your Higher Self, your Soul and the
Divine Consciousness.
Reiki works on the cause of the imbalance and illness, meaning it treats
the illness or imbalance rather than the symptoms. Reiki accelerates
healing. You will heal at a faster rate if you are relaxed and allow the
energy to flow through your body. Most people fall asleep during Reiki
sessions. You may see Reiki energy as colors, feel it as pure love or you
may simply feel peaceful and serene during and after your
sessions. Some clients have also reported that they feel very energized
after a Reiki session.
Reiki heals on all levels; this includes the mental, emotional, physical
and spiritual. It goes to the source of the imbalance and heals the cause
of it. Reiki has been known to heal tumors, cancer, cysts, align the
spine, shift organs into place, detoxify the body, heal organs, heal
wounds, and burns, reduce side effects of chemical drugs, reduce
stress, alleviate headaches. Reiki also assists with emotional release,
healing depression and emotional imbalances, helping to recognize
karmic and mental patterns, releasing negativity and negative
attachments. Contemporary Reiki often uses crystals, as well as the
Japanese healing symbols and often focuses on healing the aura and
chakras (non-physical energy centers), as well as the physical body to
healing past life issues, and assisting in Spiritual healing, to name a few.
There are no negative side effects to Reiki as it is the Life Force from
where we originate.

Reiki was given to the world around 1900 by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist (Shinto/Tendai)
theologian. It is said Dr. Usui believed deeply in the healing powers through prana and ki and was
looking for the meaning of his life. He launched search and study for the answers. A quest that
undertook more than 20 years of travel and study of many languages, cultures and texts, including the
Sutras. After years of travel, study and inner seeking, his asked for advice from his good friend who was
a Budhist (Tendai) Monk living in the Temple at Mount Kurama. After meditation and prayer, it was
decided Mikao would meditate on Mt Kurama, outside Kyoto and wait for 21 days for an answer. The
monk told Mikao, if he found the answers, it was for him to know, if he did not, it was not for him and
his quest should end. On the final evening of his 21st day, as he sat in mediation, he surrendered his
search. At that moment, he saw a point of light in the night sky that had not been there on previous
evenings. It pulsated with bright light, knocked him to the ground and he went into a deep trance,
receiving/experiencing a moment of fundamental inspiration (satori – kamigakari). It is said, within this
light, he instantly understood how to bring healing by the laying on of hands and by the visions of Sacred
Symbols and demonstrating their use for healing purposes. The next morning, he awoke, his body
vibrating with energy and knew he had the answers to his quest. On that very day, while on his way back
to talk with his friend the Monk, he experienced four healing miracles. This is how Mikao returned to the
world with Reiki.
To this day, within our Reiki lineage, we continue to honor his teaching, as was taught to us by Mrs.
Takata. We preserve our teacher’s stories, knowledge and share their wisdom. We continue to teach
Reiki in the way Mrs. Hawayo Takata taught our teachers, as an oral tradition, with plenty of time for
hands-on healing, so each student can have their own experience with Reiki. We still teach the original
Sacred Symbols, as was taught to Mrs. Takata by her Master, Chujiro Hayashi and as he was taught by
his Master, Mikao Usui. Mikao’s vision of the Sacred Symbols and their use for healing and Initiations
into the Energy are still the symbols we use today in our Reiki Lineage.

The Symbolism of the Reiki Kanji:
Rei: soul, divine, sacred, transcendental power or spirit of a being
In the upper portion of the Reiki kanji, Rei is symbolised as follows: from the canopy of Heaven, four
drops of rain fall into three containers or mouths. The rain symbolises life giving energy from Heaven in
the form of water. This life-giving energy is collected in the three containers or mouths where it can
directly revitalise the mind, body and spirit, the Reiki Trinity. Below the containers, the Healer
prays/dances, balancing female and male duality, (spiritual and material) in order to perform the work
of praying for rain and/or acts as an intermediary between heaven above (male) and the earth below
(female).
Putting the symbolism together: a representation of the Trinity found in many diverse spiritual traditions
as Heaven, Earth and Man. The symbolism of water is very significant spiritually in that it is endlessly
adaptable. Water is responsive, changes form and flows easily around obstacles, but when necessary,
water also has the capacity to slowly dissolve obstacles and carry them along.
Ki: energy that can be perceived or felt, breathe of life or atmosphere
In the lower portion of the kanji, Ki is symbolised as follows: rice surrounded by a vapour or steam that
can also be symbolised as air or breathe, an invisible vapour or atmosphere, something that could not
be seen but could cause change and be felt. Also interpreted as the breath of life.
Reiki is a Spiritual Practice that consists of the laying on of hands, meditation and a conscious
connection to receiving and transference of the Universal Energy. Healing is only one of the benefits
of Reiki. Reiki can amplify innate abilities, help the individual experience continuous personal growth,
and rid themselves of labels and expectations placed upon them by others. It can heal illness and
disease. You could say Reiki awakens us at a soul level, which can even heal us throughout time and
space. This awakening helps bring the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of ourselves
into alignment to create balance within our lives. Reiki is like a deep prayer sent to the Universal
Energy. The result of this better connection is a sense that one’s life is flowing, because it is moving
with the Universal Energy, instead of against it. This helps us co-create a more peaceful, loving,
abundant and rewarding life. Your commitment to the energy equals the Power of Reiki in your life. If
you use it, it always works. Reiki heals all aspects of the self, including past life and karmic
ties/situations.
